Hey guys! Today, I have a short but meaningful post regarding my new nonprofit, AnthroMinds. Throughout the summer, I have carefully curated and designed this nonprofit to be in line with my interests and in line with something that could positively impact my community.
In my local community, school is highly competitive, with everyone trying their best to take as many AP and Honors classes as possible, all while handling extracurriculars to get into college. I recognize this and am also the type to do so, so I wanted to create a mental health nonprofit. With my interest in medical anthropology, I also combined this into my nonprofit by assessing factors in medical anthropology that affect mental health.
Our Mission Statement is “AnthroMinds is committed to providing high school students with the necessary knowledge and resources to promote awareness about mental health. Rooted in the principles of medical anthropology, our approach incorporates the study of cultural, social, and biological factors that influence mental well-being, complemented by insights from medicine. We aim to create an environment that fosters mental wellness and inclusivity where everyone feels welcome, understanding and addressing the diverse and interconnected aspects of mental health within our society.”
My high school has a club branch of AnthroMinds, where we have biweekly meetings on Wednesdays during lunch. We promote discussions and storytelling through art, have guest speakers, have community events, collaborate with other organizations and clubs, and have fundraisers to obtain money to give back to our community. I am the Founder and President of the nonprofit and have additional Board members who help me curate activities and events for high school participants.
