Science Alliance Fair (Full Circle)

The Science Alliance Fair this year was one of my favorite days of the entire program out of all 4 years.
We started the morning by setting up our bubble station, which is always a buddy favorite. Once everything was ready, I headed off to judge while the rest of my Cal High team ran the station. I went through project presentations, posters, and interviews, and it was amazing to see how much effort all the buddies put into their work.
The day was split up so that while one group of buddies was being judged, the other group rotated through all the stations. There was chemistry, physics, robotics, biology, and of course, bubble stations. After a while, we took a break and then switched, so everyone got a chance to present and explore.
Lunch hit at the perfect time. We had pizza, rice krispies, and oranges. American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life was happening on the track, so we went over and spent some time there, too.

Having some fun on the track (very safe btw)!
Then came the awards ceremony. This year, we got 4 finalists, an honorable mention, and third place. Compared to last year, where we only had one finalist, it felt like a huge jump. Everyone was really proud, and it showed how much the program has grown.
At the same time, this has all felt a little bittersweet. This is my last year being part of Science Alliance, and it’s weird knowing it’s all coming to an end. There’s only one more intradistrict meeting left before it’s over. I’m really grateful for everything this program has given me. From mentoring to leadership to moments like this, it’s been an experience I won’t forget.
